English language resources are sparse, and a knowledge of Indonesian may be a preresiquite for learning Sundanese fully. Indonesian is a learner-friendly language, however, and will be a gateway into the culture of Indonesia as a whole. While Sundanese technically has it’s own script, its not in common every day use and will mostly be written in the Latin script (which is great news for the learner).
Anyone who’s studied Japanese or Korean will be familiar with the many levels of politeness registers that also features in Sundanese.
