  • The first step to learn Hebrew will be to learn the writing system. Hebrew uses an abjad, meaning only consonants are written, with optional markings for vowel sounds. Hebrew is written right to left.
  • Hebrew has no indefinite articles.
  • Like other Semitic languages, Hebrew words are formed by 3 consonant roots, in which all forms are made by adding vowels and double consonants. This will take some practice to get used to, but is very logical.
  • Word order in modern Hebrew is Subject-Object-Verb.
  •  “To be” is usually omitted in the present tense, like Russian.
