- The first step to learn Bulgarian is to learn the Cyrillic alphabet. It’s fairly straightforward and can be learned in a couple of days
- Bulgarian has a somewhat more straightforward grammar than other Slavic languages like Russian. Nouns don’t have cases, except in some fossilized faces. There are three grammatical genders.
- Definite articles are added as a post-position.
- Verbs are a little more complicated. Verbs are conjugated for tense, person, number, and mood. Most verbs will have a perfective and imperfective form that must both be learned ( usually the perfective is formed with an added prefix). There is no infinitive form.
- Word order is generally Subject-Verb-Object.
